{Fifth and last round. Time control 40/85 & game/30 with 5-second time delay in effect. Gregg was only about 5 minutes late, unusually punctual for him.}
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be2 {I have invariably
played} (6. Bg5 {here for many years, and have done so against Fritchle many
times. I decided to mix things up a bit this time around.}) 6... e5 7. Nb3 Be7
8. Be3 O-O 9. O-O b5 {Gregg thought after the game that} (9... Nbd7 {would have
been better, but I probably would have played} 10. a4 {and White looks OK to
me.}) 10. f4 Bb7 {I was thinking} (10... b4 11. Nd5 Nxe4 12. Bb6 Qd7 13. Nc7
{makes the b-pawn advance a bad idea.}) 11. Bf3 exf4 12. Bxf4 Qb6+ 13. Qd4 {I
thought} (13. Kh1 Nbd7 {gave him too much play on the dark squares, and I don't
like his control along the h7-g1 diagonal.}) 13... Nbd7 14. Rad1 Qxd4+ 15. Nxd4
{I contemplated} (15. Rxd4 {but} 15... Bd8 {was more than I wanted to deal
with} 16. Kh1 Bb6 17. Rxd6 Bc7 $19) 15... g6 {To prevent Nd4-f5.} 16. Nd5 Nxd5
17. exd5 Ne5 18. Bxe5 dxe5 19. d6 Bxd6 {I had overlooked this when I played 16.
Nd5 but realized I could deal with it when I finally did see it before
advancing d5-d6.} 20. Bxb7 Rab8 21. Ne6 $2 {Chess blindness. I had realized
that I could stop the Bishop check on c5 and attack Black's doubled e-pawns.
Very clever, but I overlooked what should have been obvious:} (21. Nb3 {and
White remains a piece ahead with an easy win.}) 21... fxe6 22. Rxd6 Rxb7 23.
Rxe6 (23. Rxa6 Rd7 24. Rb6 Rd2 25. Rxb5 Rxc2 26. Rxf8+ Kxf8 {looks stronger.
Rxe6 concedes the draw perhaps too easily.}) 23... Rd8 24. Rxe5 Rd2 25. Rf2
Rd1+ 26. Rf1 Rd2 27. Rf2 1/2-1/2
