1. d4 f5 {The previous two times I had played Craig were both draws in the Scandinavian. I wanted to surprise him a little by playing 1. d4.} 2. c4 Nf6 3. Nc3 d6 4. Nf3 g6 5. g3 Bg7 6. Bg2 O-O 7. O-O {b3 or b4 may be more accurate but castling can't be too bad.} Nc6 8. Bg5 h6 9. Bxf6 Bxf6 10. Qd2 Bg7 11. Rad1 e6 {This may have been the first time I'd ever faced the Dutch as I am normally a 1. e4 player. However, I believe I played it okay up to this point... most all of the moves seem consistent with book lines.} 12. a3 Ne7 13. Ne1 g5 14. e3 Ng6 15. f4 Qe7 16. b4 Rb8 17. Nd3 c6 18. c5 {Here I thought white was comfortably better.} Rd8 19. cxd6 Qxd6 20. Qc2 Bd7 21. Ne5 Be8 22. Nxg6 {The knight will be black's most active minor piece if it is allowed to get into the game via e7 and d5. I felt it best to eliminate it, even if it meant my knight leaving its nice e5 outpost, since I could always transport the other knight back there eventually.} Bxg6 23. Bf3 {To prevent Bh5, where suddenly black's light squared bishop might have a little activity.} Bf7 24. Na4 Bf6 25. Nc5 b6 26. Nd3 Be8 27. Ne5 Rbc8 28. Qa2 Kg7 29. Rc1 Rc7 30. Kf1 Bb5+ {I actually resigned here because I saw black's nice mating finish. In hindsight, I should have let Craig play it because it's quite pretty... sorry, Craig!} 44. Be2 Qc1+ 45. Kg2 Qg1+ 46. Kh3 Qf1+!! 47. Bxf1 Bxf1# 0-1
