Bio: I learned chess when I was 4 or 5 and have been a regular chess player ever since. Played my first USCF rated tournament in the fall of 1968 at the Monterey Park Chess Club; played in the USAF worldwide chess championship in 1973 & 1974; Monterey Park Chess Club Champion 1976, 1979, 1980; Arcadia Chess Club Champion 1982; 3rd place team ("The Four Horsemen") in the 1984 USATW, where I won the 4th board prize with my only 6-0 score ever in that event. My lifetime peak rating was 2154 sometime back in the mid 1980's. I was President of the Pasadena Chess Club for many years before handing the job off to Randy Hough.

I am now retired after a 28 year career in the Science Division of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where most of my experience is in radio & infrared astronomy and infrared geological remote sensing. At the moment I am President of both the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Mt. Wilson Observatory Association.
